Cody, WY – Mary Genevieve (Connolly) Gravelle, 50, passed away on Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at the Spirit Mountain Hospice House in Cody, WY after a battle with cancer.
Mary Genevieve Connolly was born on April 27, 1961 in Queens, NY. She graduated from Glen Rock High School in Glen Rock, NJ in 1979. She obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Philosophy with minors in English Literature and Women’s Studies from Clarion University of Pennsylvania in 1995, followed by a Master’s Degree in Library Science in 1997 from the same institution.
For many years, Mary was a member of the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA), a worldwide, non-profit educational organization which re-creates the Middle Ages from approximately 400 A.D. to 1600 A.D. Within this group, she was known as Lady Eldridth, and devoted much of her time in service to others, mostly with her skills in first aid. Mary held true to the adage ‘Friends are the family you choose,’ and she still has many people throughout the world who consider her family because of this organization.
Mary is survived by her life partner, Renee Conner, of Cody, WY; a daughter, Genevieve (Shane Perry) Meyers, of Cody, WY; a son, Joseph Gravelle, of Chicago, IL; three grandchildren, Tyler Jordan (9), Logan James (1), and Alana Mary Genevieve (unborn); a sister, Beth Connolly, of Glen Rock, NJ; and other relatives and friends too numerous to name. She was preceded in death by her mother, Patricia Genevieve Connolly (maiden name Martin); her Great Aunt Dot Englert and her Great Uncle George Englert.
A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
