Life Legacy

We have lost a beloved member of St. Anthony’s Church, the VFW, and the community of Cody, Wyoming. Helen Carol Gillitzer has fought a long and courageous battle with cancer before her passing at West Park Long Term Care Center on August 31, 2011.

Born to William and Mildred Gillitzer on March 28, 1947 in St. Cloud, Minnesota, and raised in Cody, Helen has been preceded in death by her parents. She will be remembered for her service to family and the community. Helen always remembered her cousins and their children during the holidays and on special days, like birthdays.

Following the legacy of her parents in terms of community service, Helen created her own path. She spent thirty years working for the De partment of Family Services in both Cody and Cheyenne where she made many friends. Helen was always fair and seemed to love and help everyone she came in contact with. She retired from DFS to care for her Mother.

Helen was actively involved with the VFW, delivered meals to Senior Citizens even during her rounds with chemotherapy, and spent any extra time reading to children. She loved being the “Story Lady”.

Helen will be dearly missed by her family, her friends, and her clients with DFS. She is survived by an aunt and several uncles, including Helen Trimble of Needham. Massachusetts, Pete Mirich of Loveland, Colorado, John Mirich of Denver, Colorado,
Nick Mirich of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Guy Mirich of Phoenix, Arizona and Lenny Gillitzer of St.Cloud, Minnesota.

Vigil for the Deceased will be at The Church of St. Anthony in Cody on Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at 7:00pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be at the church on Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at 10:00am with Fr. Vernon Clark as celebrant. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery.
