Life Legacy

Chester “Chet” Kolak, 84, died May 18, 2011 at West Park Hospital in Cody.

Chet was born on September 7, 1926 in New Jersey. He was the son of Florence and Stanley Kolak.

He was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus.

Chet served in the South Pacific Foreign Service in WWII from 1945-1946.

He enjoyed camping, fishing, boating, golfing, and working on all kinds of projects around the house and was always willing to try and fix anything.

Chet had many fond memories of working with the boy scouts as an Eagle Scout and Scout Master, being in the Army, and days back in Connecticut and New York. He enjoyed watching all the different western and cowboy movies. He was a fantastic cook. You could always find Chet working outside in the yard of garage on some sort of project.

Chet had a great sense of humor and could always make people laugh.

He was a beloved husband to Marie for 62 years. They moved to Cody in 1989 from Connecticut to retire. He was a builder, carpenter, and electrician for the years prior to 1989.

Chet was preceded in death by his mother Florence Kolak, father Stanley Kolak, and sister Dorothy Fisher. He is survived by his loving wife Marie Kolak, son Raymond Kolak, daughters Linda Kolak and Laura (Adrian) Stroud, grandchildren Dana Rinne, Kristiin (Richard) Clark, Stephanie Stroud, John Stroud, and Chris Stroud, great grandchildren Colton and Brody Clark, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Memorial Mass will be held at The Church of St. Anthony in Cody on Tuesday, May 24, 2011 with Fr. Vernon Clark as celebrant. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery and then friends and family are welcomed to gather at the church for lunch and further fellowship. An online guestbook is available at www.ballardfh.com.
