Laura I. Gawthorp
March 9, 1924 - September 26, 2010
Cody, WY – Laura Inez Gawthorp, 86, passed away Sunday, September 26, 2010 at West Park Hospital Long Term Care Center in Cody, WY.

Laura Inez Prestridge was born March 9, 1924 in Pioneer, LA. She was the next to the youngest of ten children.

Inez met and married the love of her life, Paul Gawthorp, in Monroe, LA where he was stationed in the Army Air Corps. They were married for 66 years. Inez was an Air Force wife and mother. Paul and Inez raised two daughters while traveling the world together. During their summer vacations, they traveled to many states and countries with their daughters.

They retired to Hot Springs, AR in 1969. Inez loved her dream home, spending more time with friends and family and fishing for crappie on Lake Hamilton. After their retirement, they loved to travel to places they had never been. Inez was an avid bird and animal watcher. They later moved to Niceville, FL, when their home and yard became too much to care for. They joined St. Paul Lutheran Church and became very active members.

In the early 1990’s, they started spending time with their daughter and son-in-law in Cody, WY, eventually moving here permanently in 2003. They joined Trinity Lutheran Church.

Inez was preceded in death by her husband in 2009. She is survived by daughters, Pat (Nick) Misciagna of Cody, Paulette Sims of Albuquerque, NM; grandson, James (Erica) Hughes; great-grandsons, Ryan and Casey of Petaluma, CA; sisters-in-law, Hyla (Frank) Cameron, Rosemary Strine, Shirley (M.L.) Myers; brother-in-law, Wendell (Kyoko) Gawthorp; and many nieces and nephews.

She will be missed very much by her family and friends.

Cremation has taken place at her request and there will be a family service in Florida at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make any memorials to the charity of your choice in her name.
