Flossie A. Cowles, 81, of Cody died Aug. 1, 2010.
She was born to farmers John and Bell Wilson in Rosalia, Kan., on Oct. 16, 1918. Only twin sister Faye Leach remains of seven children.
Flossie was raised in and around Augusta, Kan., and graduated from high school in 1934. She worked for Boeing building B17 bombers during World War II until she met the love of her life, Bill Cowles, and moved to Alameda, Calif., in 1944.
They moved to Cody in 1945 after son John was born. Son Jerry and daughter Mary Kay filled their lives.
She taught kindergarten and was active at First Presbyterian Church. After her children left home she worked for Y-Tex for 15 years.
When her husband died she focused on her grandchildren Sarah, Laura (John), Jennifer, Jerry Jr., and Jessica (Jerry), with Samantha and Rebekah added last year. She had nine great-grandchildren with one more on the way.
Interment has taken place at Riverside Cemetery next to her husband. A celebration of life will be at a later date
